Charlotte North Carolina
There’s no place quite like Charlotte – the Queen City herself! European settlers chartered the town back in 1768 when King George III still ruled the colonies. They named the city after the King’s wife, Queen Charlotte, and gave the surrounding county the name Mecklenburg in honor of her German roots.
Today she’s a major city and commercial hub in North Carolina where diversity and friendliness abound. Home to the Nascar Hall of Fame, the Billy Graham Library, Discovery Place Science Museum, and numerous renowned restaurants, there’s no shortage of things to do here; you can take in a Broadway show in Uptown, spruce up your wardrobe in South Park, attend a cultural festival in Dilworth, toast your loved ones in Plaza Midwood.
